Hi,
Wanted to share this with everyone. I just got a new
book written by one of my Mormon cousins on her
family lines. COTTAM, JARVIS, FOSTER, FORSYTH
and allied lines. It is a very interesting book with
family history as well as some Mormon history mixed in
as most of her families were early Mormons. A cousin
told me about it in the fall, and I quickly sent a check for
a copy. I am very happy I did as it is well worth it.
My connection is the FOSTER line. My Great Grandma
Mary FOSTER GILES was a sister to her Edward FOSTER.
I have mentioned him here before. She had some information
on the FOSTER family I didnt have and visa versa.
I am learning more about the family who came from England
and made the overland trek from Omaha (Florence) Nebraska
to Salt Lake City in 1863 with four little children. She was with
child and lost the baby on the long journey. 1,032 miles mostly
on foot from Florence to Salt Lake. More children were born
to them in later years for a total of 12 or 13 children. Uncle
Edward was a stone cutter and stone mason and helped on the
Temple for over 17 years until his death from a brain tumor.
His wife Amelia lived another 39 years after his death.
They were both teachers at Salt Lake, in the church.
Uncle Edward and Aunt Amelia had lived in the Channel
Islands of France for several years before making the trip
to USA in 1863.

It is all so interesting! We lived in Omaha four years while
hubby was in the Air Force and visited the Winter Quarters
but had no idea my Great Great Uncle was among the Pioneers
to make the trek from there to Salt Lake.
History Lives in our ancestors lives!
