We called in at the Tannery of Messrs. DUDLEY and GILMAN one day last
week to witness the working of some new machinery just put in. Prominent
among the items of interest there to be seen is a new leather roller, a
contrivance used to press sole leather to a uniform thickness and render
it hard and smooth. This machine is run by steam and is nearly entirely
the invention of Mr. WRIGHTMAN, of this place and Mr. DUDLEY himself.
This tannery was etablished about 12 years ago.
