DEATH OF JOHN DOUDS

One of our Older Irish Residents and a
Much Esteemed Citizen

John DOUDS died at his residence at the lower
end of South street on Friday, his age being 74
years and his complaint, general disability, he
having been sick a year or more. He was one
of our older esteemed Irish citizens, having been
born in County Antrim in Ireland and he came to
this country over fifty years ago. He was for
nearly all that time in the employ of the late John
C. WILLIAMS and his family, working in the mill
and in the garden. He was twice married, his
children by his first wife being John DOUDS of
New Jersey, Mrs. John ESCHRICH of Wyoming
and Mrs. M. HIRSCH of Dansville, and those by
his second wife are Geo. DOUDS and Mrs.
Helen PROCTOR. His second wife survives him.
The funeral was held from St. Patrick's church on
Monday, Rev. W.T. DUNN officiating.

The bodies of five veteran soldiers who have died
since January now lie in the Cemetery vault waiting
to be buried when the frost leaves the ground. They
are Conrad KRAMER, James O. SLAYTON, James
M. SQUIRES, George E. TOLES, Samuel J. TAFT.
Today, the body of another veteran, John S. KREILEY,
will be placed there - a sextette of as gallant soldiers
in their time as ever shouldered a musket or handled
a sabre.
