Married at San Rafael, 17th inst., Thomas O'GRADY to Johanna SULLIVAN,
both of Tomales.

Died at San Francisco, on the 16th inst., David C. BRODERICK, of Irish
parentage, a native of Wash. D.C. and late U.S. Senator from Ca. aged
39y.

A fatal difficulty occurred at the Laguna, about 4 miles from Petaluma,
on Wednesday evening, last week, between Juan PULGAS and Francisco BIER,
during which BIER was shot and instantly killed. The difficulty was in
relation to the ownership of a horse.

Mr. A. ROMAN has opened a book salesroom at 156 Montgomery St., San
Francisco.

While the Schooner, 'Catharine Miller' was beating up toward the mouth
of the Petaluma Creek, on Saturday afternoon, the 24th inst., her boat
got adrift, when Capt. Hugh MORRISON, in command of the vessel, jumped
overboard and swam towards the boat to save it. He had proceeded but a
short distance, however, when he suddenly sank to rise no more. Every
effort was made to rescue him by those on board his vessel but without
avail. It is thought he was seized with severe cramps. His body has not
yet been recovered. The deceased was 30y and a native of Nova Scotia.

PHENIX, both of Chileno Valley.
