Capt. JARBOE informs the 'Democrat' that, on the 12th ult., while on the
trail from Round Valley to Weaverville, he found the charred remains of
a man, supposed to be John BLAN. On the same day, Capt. JARBOE, with a
body of Rangers, had an engagement with a large number of Indians,
killing 20, and capturing 33. They confessed they had murdered BLAN, by
tying him to a stake and burning him, during which they had a war dance.
They had killed and eaten his horse.

Rev. L. WAUGH, has submitted to our inspection, the constitution and
by-laws of an association he is about to establish in this city, to be
known as the "California Youth's Association." The object of this new
organization is stated by the pledge to be, a total abstinence from
intoxicating beverages, and from the use of tobacco. For the success of
the cause, Mr. WAUGH, intends canvassing the entire State. He will
commence his labors at the Methodist Church, in this city, on Sunday,
the 13th inst., when he hopes to have a full attendance of both old and
young.
Died near Stony Point, Oct. 26, 1859, Dora Elizabeth LEWIS, adopted
daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth SHELTON, aged 7y 10m.

Father WAUGH'S new Association appears to take with the little ones of
this city. Petaluma Branch No. 1, was organized last Sunday evening and
now numbers of 80 members.
Married on the 8th inst., at the school-house near San Rafael, Hugh
McLAUGHLIN to Kate CLINCHEY.
Died at Santa Rosa, Nov. 2, 1859, Richard DICKSON, aged 37y. Formerly of
Belfast, Maine.

Last Sunday morning, the dead body of a man named James NEARY, a native
of Ireland, was discovered lying in a pile of wood, on the east side of
the creek, near Occidental Mills, with a wound in the left breast. An
examination of the wound proved that NEARY came to his death by a cut
from a large knife. The blow was one of great force, literally splitting
the 5th rib and passing through the heart. The deceased had for some
time past, been living at Bodega, but more recently, been at work for a
Mr. HOWE, of Two Rock Valley, which place he left on Saturday and came
to this city, where he at once got on a spree, and was last seen at 2
o'clock on Sunday morning, in company with one Thos. HALEY. HALEY was
accordingly arrested.

RAWLES, both of Mendocino.
Died in Petaluma, Nov. 20, 1859, Jeddiah, son of George and Ann GILL,
aged 13y 8m. (Ky. and Ark. copy)
Died in Anally, at the residence of Z.T. SWEET, 23d inst., Hiram
ROBBINS, lately of Kansas Terr., aged 22y.
Died at Santa Rosa of putrid sore throat, Nov. 19, 1859, John James, son
of Henry and Catharine WASHER, aged 2y.
Died at Santa Rosa of putrid sore throat, Frances, daughter of Marry
MORRIS, aged 4y.
Died in Santa Rosa of typhoid fever, Anna, daughter of the late Richard
DICKSON, aged 12y.
