Postville Herald
Postville, Allamakee Co. Iowa
April 24, 1930

Obituary.
Louise Henriette Charlotte Koenig Kaiser died at the age of 60 years, one
month and 12 days on the 6th day of April, 1930, at 4:30 p.m., at her home
in Monona, Iowa. Mrs. Kaiser was the hcild of Wilhelm Koenig and Charlotte
Meyer and was born February 25, 1870, in Lever Soender, Province Westphalia,
Germany. Here she was baptized in the same year. March 13, 1883, she was
confirmed in the Lutheran church of Postville, Iowa. Nine years later she
was married to Charley Kaiser. With her departure the Ladies' Aid Society
of St. Paul's E. L. congregation has lost one of its charter members, which
she served in her quiet and willing way since the year 1906. The deceased
leaves to mourn her departure the husband, Charley Kaiser; two sons, Alvin
and Walter of Monona; one daughter, Cornelia; three brothers and their
families, Louis, William and Fritz Koenig, Castalia; four sisters and their
families, Mrs. Minnie Poesch, Mrs. Mary Schroeder, Mrs. Rosine Ruckdaschel,
all of Postville; and Mrs. Lena Christofferson of Louisa.

Death.
Fred Lammert, a well known farmer residing a short distance northwest of
Postville, was so badly injured in a runaway while returning from that place
last Tuesday evening that he never regained consciousness and died the
following day.

Local Happenings.
A. VanCunin and Dr. Joyee Schmidt motored here form Iowa City Saturday
evening for an over-Easter visit in the home of the latter's parents, Dr.
and Mrs. A.A. Schmidt.

The Goodrich Produce Co. in this city had more business Monday than the
proverbial cranberry merchant, there being five helpers at work beside
Manager Howard Gordon, viz., Wallace Gordon, Ed Thoma, Harry Gordon, Fritz
Meyer and Richard Gordon.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Koevenig and baby motored here Saturday from Dubuque to
spend Easter in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.J. Meyer.

Mrs. F. Frantzen of Ossian spent Easter here in the home of her sister, Mrs.
W.E. Durno. She was on the way home from Hammond, Ind., where she had been
to make the acquaintance of a little daughter recently born to Mr. and Mrs.
Wilson of that city. Mrs. Wilson will be best remembered hereabouts as
Sylvia Lukenbill of Ossian.

In sending in her subscription remittance to the Herald, Mrs. Anna Redhead
Spurling of Los Angeles, Calif., says: "Have been having such a wonderful
time seeing the beautiful country and getting settled in a little apartment
of our own, and time sure goes by quickly here. We are just delighted with
it all and now think this is where we will spend the remainder of our days.
Best regards to all our dear friends back in the old home town."

On Friday last, J.W. Campbell drove to Cedar Falls after the Postville
delegation at the state teachers college, Carolyn Campbell, Loretta Horgan
and Helen Wegner, whom he brought back with him to spend Easter with home
folks.
