BUCODA ITEMS
J. E. HOLLY an employee at the Mutual Mill had the misfortune to
have one of his limbs badly broken while at work Saturday morning. He
was rushed to Olympia where he will be confined for some few months.
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Steve STARKAVICH and its contents with
exception of a couple of rockers and a new washing machine burned Tuesday
night.
THe Blue Bird class of the Sunday school met at the Community
hall on Tuesday and held an indoor picnic. The girls played various
games after which they went on a hike across the river. Those who were
present were Gessie BAKER, Louise CRAMER, Rosa CHAPPELL, Gerogia SHAMLEY,
Trilby UNIVEN, Gertrude BROWN, Thelma STERNER, Dorothy LENNOX and their
teacher, Mrs. N. M. SHAMLEY.
Mrs. August BRACH returned to her home from Salem, Oregon, where
the spent a few days with friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles GRIFFA and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth GRIFFIN, Mr.
and Mrs. James DAVIS, Mrs. H. O'NEIL and daughter Belle Marie, spent
Sunday at Deep Lake.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie HAWKINS of Centralia were visitors in the Joe
KRUPP home Sunday.
Mrs. Bertha JOHNSON and son of Tacoma were visiting Mrs.
JOHNSON's mother Mrs. Jane CALES on last Sunday.
Mrs. N. SAMER and children of California are visiting at the E.
P. CHAPPELL home.
Quite a crowd attended the S. W. Washington fair this week.
The Ladies Aid Society is planning on holding a food sale and a
sale of stamped garments on September 11. This will be the time to
select your Christmas presents.

Friends of the PATTERSON family are glad to learn that Grandpa
PATTERSON is able to be up and around.
Those visiting in the Abe HAGOES home on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs.
Charles HAGOES, Miss Violet and Kenneth and Miss GUNDERSON, all of
Seattle.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob MOREHOUSE have moved to Oregon.
A week end guest at the W. C. READ and M. E. HICKMAN homes was L.
M. WARREN of Hoqiam.
Mrs. Mary HAGGARD returned home Sunday evening from Chehalis
where she had visited at her son's home.
L. L. SWANEY of Bucoda was a business visitor here Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. J. B. EDMINSTER, of Chehalis, have moved into the
house owned by Mrs. WHERRETT on Lincoln street. Mr. EDMINSTER is
linotype operator for The Independent.
UPPER SKOOKUMCHUCK
Mr. and Mrs. Earl YOUNG of Tacoma spent the week end with Mrs.
YOUNG's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thurston JOHNSON.
Mr. and Mrs. Farley JOHNSON, of California are here spending the
summer with relatives.
Mrs. Nettie DAVIS spent Tuesday with her niece, Mrs. Thurston
JOHNSON.
The threshing machine is on the Skookumchucj this week.
Mrs. Frank WHALIN spent Wednesday visiting with her daughter,
Ada, on the Skookumchuck.
Mrs. L. CLARK has purchsed a new Star car.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred TROLLER were Tenino shoppers Saturday.
Pick your own prunes at the JOHNSON ranch, at 1c. a pound. --
