Born -- PINKERTON -- at Pleyto, Sept. 28, to the wife of Wm. PINKERTON, a
daughter.
Married -- EARDLEY-HARDIN -- at the Fifth St. Methodist Church, Santa
Rosa, Sept. 29, by Rev. A.T. ATKINSON; William J. EARDLEY and Miss
Jimella HARDIN, both of Santa Rosa. [B.A. EARDLEY has returned from
attending the wedding of his brother, William, at Santa Rosa ]
Mr. J. BERGES was overjoyed this week by the safe arrival of his mother,
Madame Marie BERGES, his sister, Jeanette, and his brother Baptiste, from
the France district. The newcomers are delighted with Salinas and will
reside here permanently.

Died -- CASTRO -- at Bradley, Sept. 30, Miss Guadalupe CASTRO, aged 50
years.
Pleyto and Bradley Gleanings -- The wedding of Miss Sarah GUNN and Mr.
Riley BRESETTE was a surprise to their friends and acquaintances in Hames
valley. The young couple are spending their honeymoon at Paso Robles.
Mrs. Loupy McCOY (nee TRIPLETT), wife of George McCOY, died in Santa
Maria, Santa Barbara county, on the 12th inst.
Alexander Stewart McLEAN, a native of Scotland, was made an American
citizen last Saturday.

Married -- GARCIA-ROSALES -- in San Lucas, Oct. 21, by Wm. GRISWOLD,
J.P.; Thomas GARCIA and Lena ROSALES, both of San Antonio.
Married -- WILEY-TOWLE -- in the United Presbyterian Church, by Rev. Geo.
McCORMICK, Oct. 25; Joseph F. WILEY, of Cholame, and Miss Charlotte E.
TOWLE, of Paris Valley.
Died -- MASCIORINI -- near Tularcitos, Oct. 22, Julia Compher MASCIORINI,
daughter of the late John H. COMPHER, aged 3 years, 8 months, 11 days.
Hesperia Items -- Born to Hamilton & Dora SMITH, last week, a bouncing
girl.
Fatal Accident -- John GROUT, a Del Monte teamster, was killed about 12
miles from Monterey, near the LAURELLES ranch, about half-past 3 oclock,
yesterday afternoon. He was engaged in hauling a load of iron pipe from
Monterey to the ranch for repairs on the pipe line, and let his 4-horse
team stand while he went down to the river to get a drink. While gone,
the horse started to run away, and he, in trying to stop them, was thrown
under the wagon, and the wheel passing over his head, crushed out his
life almost instantly. The body was taken to Monterey last evening. The
deceased was well and favorably known in Monterey. He held a $3,000
policy in the Chosen Friends. He was a widower and leaves surviving him a
daughter somewhere in the Eastern States.
Obituary -- Mrs. M.H. CLARK --
The subject of this sketch was born in Washington county, East Tenn.,
Jan. 14, 1841, so that at the time of her death she had reached the age
of nearly 47 years On July 8, 1858, she was united in marriage to Mr.
M.H. CLARK, who with 7 children, remain to mourn her loss. In Aug. 1886,
Mr.&Mrs. CLARK bade adieu to the scenes of their childhood and the home
of their early married life and determined to try their fortune in this
State. They came direct to Monterey county, where they have lived ever
since. Mrs. CLARK was a most excellent woman, thoroughly devoted to the
interests of her family, kind and generous to all Her remains were
interred in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Salinas, Sunday, Oct. 16th A
funeral service will be held in honor of our departed sister, Sunday
morning, Oct. 30th, at 11 oclock, in the Baptist Church, Gonzales.

Harry KINNER died in Santa Cruz yesterday morning. He was a Knight
Templar and Watsonville Commandery hs been called out to attend the
funeral at 2pm today.
