Born -- NARVAEZ -- in Paris Valley, Nov. 1, to the wife of S.F. NARVAEZ,
a daughter.

Born -- DWAIN -- in Salinas City, Nov. 1, to the wife of James DWAIN, a
daughter.

Born -- McLEAN -- near Salinas Nov. 2, to the wife of Allan McLEAN, a
daughter.

Born -- HANSEN -- at Chualar, Nov. 4, to the wife of Hans HANSEN, a son.

Married -- JOHNSON-HARRIS -- at the residence of the bride’s parents,
near Imusdale, Oct. 9, by Rev. G.P. FAW; Warren A. JOHNSON and Miss
Jennie HARRIS, both of Imusdale.

Died -- LYNN -- in Salinas City, Oct. 31, Daniel Lee LYNN, aged 22 years,
2 mos., 28 days.

Died -- LURZ -- in Salinas City, Nov. 2, Jacob LURZ, a native of Bavaria,
aged 47 years.

Died -- McFEE -- in Soledad, Nov. 2, of diphtheria, Mabel Christine,
daughter of A.W. and Mary A. McFEE, aged 11 years, 4 mos., 28 days.

Died -- CURTIS -- in San Francisco, Nov. 2, W.P. CURTIS, aged 60 years.
[The remains of the late W.P. CURTIS arrived from San Francisco on board
Tuesday’s 1pm train, and were laid away by kindly hands in the windowless
palace of rest prepared to receive them at the Odd Fellows’ cemetery.]

San Lucas & Vicinity -- [from last Thursday’s ‘Herald’] -- This morning
at 4 o’clock occurred the sad death of little Laura, the beloved daughter
of Mr.&Mrs. A. WITTMAN of Priest Valley. The child was 18 months old and
the pet of the family.

Antonio PERIERA, a native of Portugal, was admitted to citizenship in the
Superior Court here last Monday on the testimony of J.L. MATTHEWS and
M.S. GEORGE.

Married -- PELL-CONEY -- at the residence of the bride’s parents in San
Francisco, by Rev. F.F. JEWELL, D.D.; J. Al. PELL, of Pacific Grove, to
Miss Addie A. CONEY of San Francisco.

Married -- DUNLAP-REED -- at the residence of the bride’s parents in
Santa Ana valley, by Rev. Wm. DUNCAN of Hollister; Wm. A. DUNLAP of
Pacific Grove, to Miss Ora REED of Santa Ana.

Married -- DIAZ-DANA -- at the residence of U. MALARIN, Nov. 8, by
Justice WESTFALL; Rafael DIAZ de la VEGA of Monterey, to Miss Frances
DANA of San Jose.

Married -- CALDWELL-BATES -- at the Capitol Hotel, Nov. 11, by Hon. J.K.
ALEXANDER, Judge of the Superior Court; Mr. James S. CALDWELL to Miss
Ella BATES; groom of Salinas, bride of Healdsburg.

Died -- LUCE -- in Salinas City, Nov. 13, Chas. LUCE, a native of Maine,
aged 80 years. [Mrs. Edith ALLENDER of San Jose arrived last evening to
attend the funeral of her father, Charles LUCE.]

Married in Maine -- The ‘Index’ has received a package of wedding cake
with the compliments of Mr.&Mrs. George W. BERRY, of Rockland, Maine. The
bride is well known in Salinas, having formerly been postmistress at San
Antonio, Monterey county…We find the following notice of the wedding in
the Rockland ‘Opinion’ of Oct. 25th:
“The many friends of our respected fellow citizen, George W. BERRY, Esq.,
extend to him their felicitations on his marriage, which occurred in this
city last Saturday, to Mrs. Julia A. WALKER of Riverside, Calif. Rev.
W.M. KIMMELL performed the ceremony…Mrs. BERRY is a native of Fremont,
Ohio, but has resided in Southern California for several years. She has
frequently visited Maine and has many friends in this county…Mr. BERRY,
who is president of the Limerock bank, is prominent and popular in
business and social circles…They made no wedding trip, Mrs. BERRY being
disinclined to do so just after making the long journey from California
to Maine; but they intend next winter to visit California.”

natives of California.

Born -- ABBOTT -- at Natividad, Nov. 17, to the wife of Francis ABBOTT, a
son.

Born -- WILEY -- at San Ardo, Nov. 2, to the wife of J.F. WILEY, a son.

Born -- OVERHOUSE -- near Santa Rita, Nov. 15, to the wife of George
OVERHOUSE, a daughter.

Born -- LUCE -- in Salinas City, Nov. 20, to the wife of Ed. LUCE, a
daughter.

Died -- PETERS -- at Jolon, Nov. 13, Clara PETERS, aged 20 years.

Died -- SALISBURY -- in Portland, Ore., Nov. 15, Charles T. SLAISBURY, a
brother of Mrs. Addie STARR of this city, aged 43 years.

Jules MADERO, who had acquired some celebrity as an actor, died at
Walker’s Station and was buried in the Catholic cemetery near this place
on the 13th.

Lawrence HARPER, native of Scotland, became a citizen of the United
States Tuesday; James H. ROBINSON and John GILSON, witnesses.

Born -- DONALDSON -- in Hames valley, Nov. 17, to the wife of Ed.
DONALDSON, a son.

Married -- LOEBER-ROTH -- in San Francisco, Nov. 13, Henry LOEBER to Miss
Regina ROTH, both of Jolon, Monterey county.

Married -- HITCHCOCK-MYLAR -- at Lonoak, Nov. 20, Mr. Frank HITCHCOCK of
Hollister, to Miss Emma MYLAR of Lonoak.

Died -- SWART -- in Salinas City, Nov. 21, Christine, infant child of
Mr.&Mrs. M.A. SWART, aged 11 mos., 24 days.

Died -- DONALDSON -- in Hames valley, Nov. 21, the infant son of Mr.&Mrs.
Ed. DONALDSON, aged 4 days.

Died -- CAMPLIN -- in Salinas City, Nov. 26, of blood poisoning, Dr. E.G.
CAMPLIN, a native of Missouri, aged 45 years, 10 mos. [Death of Dr.
CAMPLIN -- …at his residence…The deceased came to Salinas from San Jose
last January and practiced his profession here until the beginning of his
illness, about 3 months ago. He leaves a widow…Dr. CAMPLIN was a graduate
of Keeokuk (Iowa) Medical College, skilled in his profession and a genial
kind-hearted man…the funeral took place yesterday afternoon…The remains
were taken to Hollister by the 6:15 train yesterday morning…]

Died -- GIBBONS -- at St. Helena, Cal., Nov. 10, Sarah C., wife of Rev.
A.S. GIBBONS, D.D., aged 65 years, 1 month.

San Miguel.
