ALEXANDRIA COUNTY BOOMING
Year's Building Operations Most Extensive in Its History.
"We are still growing in Alexandria county," said W. G. COLLINS, the realty operator of Clarendon, Va., to a Post reporter yesterday. "More houses have been built this year than any other year in the county's history. More lots have been sold and more acreage has been disposed of along the lines of the electric roads than ever before.
"In Clarendon, for instance, the new Masonic Temple, a $15,000 structure, has just been completed. A new public school building is now being constructed in Clarendon. There also has been a noticeable improvement in the character of buildings erected this year. Those who have been exploiting subdivisions have recognized the demand for better sidewalk facilities, and are putting down up-to-date granolithic walks.
"Owing to the fact that time is a great factor in a busy man's affairs, our transportation facilities are now so good that we can reach the extreme end of the county in any direction quicker than the extreme end of Washington. There is no reason why the county should not grow, as we have great natural advantages, such as well elevated land, pure water, &c."
