Rev. John Newton was rumored to have been born in York County, PA. I have no
proof of his birth place. He married Kiziah Dorsett in Orange County, NC
where she was living in approximately 1753, and in 1760 he was living on the
Black River in New Hanover County, NC where he had a ministry and had
purchased land on the Black River. He was part of the Sandy Creek Convention
with Shubal Stearns.
