If your Jarvis Hurd was married to Josephine Gaskill in Quincy, Adams Co. Iowa, then moved out to Oregon in 1870's, I have info on the rest of the Gaskills, not much on the Hurds, although this gives you a place to look.

Josephine was the daughter of Thomas Hugh Gaskill and Mary Ann Hales of Quincy, Iowa.

There was also another one named James Hurd, married another sister Henrietta Gaskill, not sure of the relation of the men.

Josephine was the sister of my anc. Nancy Lizzie Gaskill, married to Richard Jones in Walla Walla, Wash. Territory, Sept. 1875.
