In French's Historical Gazetteer of NY c 1860 ,the surname index listsDavid,Lucy,Robert & Solomon Jeffers all on page 317 Fulton Co... settlers in Town of Caroga in 1798. also in a footnote Joseph Scott was in Broadalbin Fulton Co.listed in "Trappers in NY".Fulton Co was formed from Montgomery Co (very large).Jefferson Co was formed from Oneida Co 1805.In 1800 Lucy m Francis Vandercook,the first marriage in the Town of Caroga. There are 24 listings for Scott in this book none in Jefferson Co.but this is not a complete listing at all..
