Ask the eldest relative. Does anyone have old papers, mementoes,clippings from newspapers.? Go to the county seat :Malone & research the naturalization list (County Clerk).Deeds will tell you when they bought & who from & sometimes where they came from.Mortgages are there too ,how much they borrowed & from who..Ask @ marriage records? Church records?.. Could be from Canada....First settlers located on the North West Bay Road @ 1812.Harrietstown was formed from Duane Mar 19 1841.Have fun!
