Hello!

I am seeking documentation to confirm or refute the Staten Island, NY, birth of CORNELIUS McLEAN SR., born circa 1774, died Sep. 12, 1836, Washington, DC.

Family Tree:

William McClean/McLean, d. 1777 m. Feb. 23, 1770 Ann Simonson, d. 1812 lived and died on Staten Island

Children:

Unknown boy 1 source: 2 boys, 16 and under, listed on widow Ann McLanes 1790 Southfield, Richmond Co, NY, census

Unknown boy 2 theory: one of these boys was Cornelius McLean Sr.

Magdalen McLean, d. 1819 m. Mar. 25, 1791/1792 Elisha Crip(p)s, d. UNK lived and died on Staten Island

Crips children, all b. at Staten Island, NY:
Ann Crips bapt. Nov. 14, 1793, Ref. Church, Port Richmond as Cripps
William McLean Cripps (1779-1876) m. 1824 Mary Ellen Spalding/Spaulding adult life and death in Washington, D.C.
Richard McLean Cripps (ABT 1804-BTW 1875&1880) m1. Rebecca m2. Ann adult life and death in Philadelphia, PA
Mary Jane Crips bapt. Apr. 13, 1812, Ref. Church, Port Richmond as Cripps

I do not live near NY state.

I believe I have exhausted all online and Family History Library resources.

The Reformed Dutch Church on Staten Island and many records from the 1770s were destroyed during the Revolutionary War.

I would appreciate any referrals to historians, researchers, archivists, etc. who might know of other records from this time period family bibles, tax lists, land sales. Was there a special census after the British left Staten Island in 1783?
