He would have had to be a justice right away though? Was that an "appointed"
position?
He wasn't a "salaried judge" until 1799.

1787 is spot right on time era for John Clinch in Trinity; it is the same
year he had returned to England for his ordination. Incidentally he was
stationed in Bonavista 1774 to 1783 before going to Trinity.
