Good Morning,
Like so many others, I am new to the study of genealogy. much of what i know
has been given to me by relatives. I am searching for information both on my
family history, but also would appreciate "pointer" on how best to direct my
time and energy.
The earliest family member I have information on is James Millar Ewing who was
bornin Geenock, Scotland, circa 1796. He later came to St. John's and was
married to Mary Macbraire Reed or possibly Reid in 1823. She was apparently
born in St John's around 1800 and died at Springdale Terrace, St John's on
August 17, 1877.
Together they had 7 children: Eliza (16 Sept 1824), James (circa 1825),
Alexander (31 Dec 1826), Helen (14 sept 1828), Robert ( baptised 2 Dec 1830),
Thomas ( 9 June 1832) and Jessie Clift (baptised 1 Dec 1830).
There are gaps in this information...dates of birth, deaths, marriages,
offspring etc. I would appreciate any info that can guide me in my search. I
would also like to pursue this history farther back in time, if anyone has
suggestions on how to do that.
Thank you
Susan (Langston) Carmichael
