Sacred Heart Regional High holds prize distribution

The commencement exercises of the Sacred Heart Regional High School,
Marystown was held on Dec 23rd in the parish hall.
An address of welcome was read by Rosalind Butler, a grade eleven graduate,
now attending Memorial University.
A program was then presented by the pupils under the direction of the
Sisters of Mercy.
The valedictory was read by Patrick Baker, and honours grade eleven student
and winner of the Placentia West Electoral Scholarship, now attending
Brother Rice High School, St. John's.
Special guests for the occaision were Very Rev. A L Penney, PP, Rev. J.
Wallis, Burin; Richard Marshall, James P. Power and Arch Hanrahan, members
of the Roman Catholic Consolidated School Board; Theophilus Etchegary,
principal of the Vocational Training School, Salt Pond, Burin; Mayor E P
Reddy, Rev. Sister M. Aloysius, Supervising Principal of the Regional High
School; Charles Lomond, President of the Holy Name Society; Mrs C Reddy,
President of The St. Anne's Society; and Phillip Walsh and Gerald
Cheeseman, High school teachers.
Prizes and diplomas were presented to the successful pupils in Grades nine,
ten and eleven by Mayor E P Reddy.

Walsh, Maureen Baker, Rosalind Butler, Maxine Collins, Daphne Inkpen,
Carmelita Kelly, Joan Power, Janette Taylor and Cecil Power.
