To those who have enquired about John J. Mannion's book "The Peopling of
Newfoundland", it is a collection of Essays in Historical Geography.
Back cover : "This book examines the gradual spread of settlement in
Newfoundland throughout the 19th century. It considers when migrants
came to occupy certain areas, where they came from, and, particularly,
how they adapted to the rugged environment of a maritime frontier.
More than 70 maps and diagrams.

I purchased the book at Breakwater Books, Water St., St. John's a few
