The following message may be forwarded to friends in United States.
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------

There are many residents of United States and other countries who
have FAMILY ROOTS in Canada -- personally, I am from Nova Scotia
with roots in various parts of United States, with complete 1920
records of one area of Maine recently sent to me.

Writers from outside of Canada are requested to give family names
being researched -- and if possible, the area of Canada.

The release of the Post-1901 Census Records are of paramount and
extreme importance to all of us -- many are completing long searches
for family ties previously unknown to them.

Many denominational records are sealed, so the only avenue of search is
census records. We know the 10-year period between releases seems long,
but until a new law is passed, we must abide by that.

I have been fortunate that my research in United States found census
records open to 1920 - extracts from later years available.

The BEST way to let the Members of Parliament know how we feel is by
writing LETTERS! There are two elected Members listed below, I feel
certain both will notice a heavy increase in mail. Do not E-mail -
these do not have to be answered, I am told -- LETTERS should be on
heavy paper.

Nothing can replace the individual letters bombarding two certain
people - two who could realistically state at the present that the
post-1901 census records will be released.

ALL we need is the name of one or more Members of Parliament bringing
forth a Private Member's Bill and the signed Petitions will add
strength to that person's argument. Should an elected Member of
Parliament put forth a Private Member's Bill we would like the
wording and date of motion so all may read it.

There are TWO main players in this dramatization and disregard of
Canadian rights and privileges. We ask every researcher send a letter
- with report to

Hopefully, their replies will be e-mailed, so these can be posted.

Petitions will never replace a bombardment of letters, just keep the
momentum going as it is at present. Last year many letters were written
- this is another year! Politicians are back in Ottawa Sept. 16th.
