Hi all,
Seveal people have asked how I found these LDS films, so I am sending
directions to NFLD material at LDS Family Search site. Previous
transcriptionists were kind enough to point the way for me, so I'm
passing it on. I can't find my e-mail version of the PANL box # that
correspond to the LDS films. If someone has that easily e-mailable,
could they forward it to the lists? In Boston, it takes 4-6 weeks to get
a film, so it saves time if you don't have to order the index film.

This is the link, but if it doesn't work: Family search, Family History
Library Catalogue, Place search, Newfoundland. Then choose Newfoundland
(not Newfoundland, New Jersey). You will come to page listing all
holdings of NFLD. Click on Vital Records (2nd page). You will get their
collection of vital statistic. Then click on Registry of Vital
Statistics collection 1753-1893, for a listing of each film, click on
upper right "View film notes". This will show each film #. There's the
link below.

Now, you will see the Volume #. There is a list from PANL of what each
Volume # contains. I can't find it in my email. I know it is in the
Rootsweb archives of the list. You can ask lists if anyone has this
list of PANL Volume # contents. I will continue looking for my list. I
think it is in with transcription material. Before I found the list on
line, I ordered the Index of these films, so I could figure out which
films would pertain to my research.

Now remember what Debbie Jeans just wrote: these films are a copy of a
copy. They are not original sources, so we still need to view primary
source. However, I find them very helpful clues for those of us unable
to visit St. John's.
