BURSEY, Joyce (nee Way) - It is with great sadness we wish to inform our friends of the passing on August 8, 2004 of Joyce Bursey, aged 84 years. Predeceased by husband Ronald, July 1, 1999. Left to mourn with loving memories, son Bob (Sheryl); daughter Daphne (Wilson) Day; grandchildren: Cynthia (Rod) Davis, Rhonda Bursey, Stephanie Bursey, Trevor (Cherine) Day; Scott Bursey (Melissa), Christopher Day (Heather); special great-grandson Evan; sisters-in-law: Audrey (Eric) Peach, Norma (Chesley) Chapman; brother-in-law Hedley Bursey; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Hopkins Funeral Home, Old Perlican. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at 2 p.m. from St. Andrews By The Sea United Church, Old Perlican. Interment in the United Church Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Andrews By The Sea United Church or a charity of your choice.

CARTER, Frank - Passed peacefully away at Brookfield Hospital on Saturday, August 7, 2004, Frank Carter, age 80 years of Badger's Quay. Predeceased by his parents Eliza and James Carter. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Pearl; sons: Joseph (Rosalind), Chamberlains, CBS, Jeffrey (Brenda), Badger's Quay; daughters: Yvonne Penny (Harry), Mt. Pearl, Joan MacDonald (Kelvin), Foxtrap, CBS; grandchildren: Jason (Tracy), Damian, David (Lee), Robyn (Cecil), Angela (David), Eugene (Ashley), Andrew, Gina; great-granddaughter Hannah; brothers: Edward (Alfreda), Claude (Margaret), Donald (Barbara) all of Badger's Quay; sister Stella Johnson (Gordon), Scarborough, ON; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral took place at St. Alban's Anglican Church, Badger's Quay on Monday, August 9th, with Rev. John Watton officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery, Greenspond. COOK, Walter - Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's on Sunday, August 8, 2004, Walter Cook, age 86 years. Walter was born on the Golden Ridge Farm, Portugal Cove Road, and was a farmer there for 45 years. He was the youngest of eight children of John and Sarah Cook and the last surviving member of his family. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Hazel Harvey Cook and his oldest son, Donald. Leaving to mourn are his devoted children: Sylvia Jean, Bedford, NS and Ross (wife Nancy); his grandchildren: Donald, Rodney, Curtis Cook and Meredith and Alyse Cook Hand; and great-grandchildren: Kaylea and Chelsea Cook. As well, he will be missed by his great companion, Hazel Stanley. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home. Visitation Tuesday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. Wednesday from U.C. SKIFFINGTON, Wallace - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, August 5th, 2004, age 66 years, of Upper Amherst Cove. Predeceased by his father John; mother Bertha and nephew Corporal Jamie Murphy of Conception Harbour. Leaving to mourn with cherished memories are his brother Eugene (Doris), Amherst Cove; sisters: Myrtle (Bill), Clarenville; Alice (Norman) Conception Harbour; Eileen (late Harold), Catalina, Eva, Clarenville, Sandra (Fred), Bonavista; also nieces and nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at St. Nicholas Anglican Church, Amherst Cove on Sunday, August 8. Interment followed at the Anglican Church. UPSHALL, Reuben - Sept. 2, 1911 - Aug. 9, 2004. Passed peacefully away in the comfort of his family at Carbonear Hospital on Monday, August 9, 2004, age 92 years, of Little Harbour East. Predeceased by his loving wife Doris; son David and granddaughter Diane. Leaving to mourn three sons: Jim (Jean), George (Darlene), Barry (Marion); three daughters: Olivia (Cecil), Irene (Max), Rubena (Gerald); one sister, Lillian Kennedy of Port de Grave; also 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Resting at the Anglican Church, Little Harbour East, P. Bay. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 11, at 2:00 p.m. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Holloway's Funeral Home, Whitbourne. - 08/10/04
