Ancestor Abraham AKERMAN came to Bonavista, Newfoundland, along with his
wife Mary and four children about the year 1783 and served many years as
layreader in the Anglican church. He was an agent there for a "large English
house" - likely refers to a Poole, Dorset merchant. He was probably the
same Abraham bapt in Broadwindsor, Dorset in 1745 s/o Daniel.

I am descended from his daughter Jane who married Simon SQUIRE/ SQUIRES in
Bonavista.

Another daughter Mary married in Bonavista to Samson MIFFLIN s/o Solomon of
a Quaker family from Warminster, Wilts. and of Poole, Dorset.

Son Abraham Akerman Jr married Jane RUSSELL in Bonavista and had a son
Joseph Waterman Akerman.

Another daughter Hannah married in Bonavista to Andrew PEARCE of
Puddletown, Dorset and died 1811 in Twillingate, Newfoundland.
