Devon 1770 John Hagley - Now in Hemyock, born in Cullompton and apprenticed
to John Sprague there aged 13 after 12 months Sprague died and he went from
place to place doing journey work for 2 or 3 years, he then went to
Newfoundland for John Smith, then for Joseph Miller of Pool in Dorset, then
with William Reed who was a planter, returned to England and worked as a
weaver or comber by the piece, joined this Majesty's service and was
discharged as disabled, he is a Pensioner of Chelsea College and lives on
his pension and what he can earn, he is now married and has two children
