Hi Listers,
My grandmother Marcella GALLOP had a brother Morgan born around 1880. He
is in the 1894,1898 and 1904 Mc Alpines, living in Codroy. He died in
WW1. He is not listed in the Books of Rememberance but I did find him in
the Commonwealth War Graves. Morgan Gallop, Lance Corporal, 2434 ,Royal
Newfoundland Regiment killed Saturday 13 April 1918. Buried at Beaumont
Hamel.BUT....It also says the "son of Mrs. R, Kennedy"!!! Now my
ggrandparents were John and Sarah(nee Evans) Gallop sooooo? My mother
who is almost 91 says that they seldom talked about uncle Morgan as he
was the black sheep of the family who supposedly took off for St. Johns
and a life of wine, women and song.. In fact my mother did not know that
he had been in the war. Can anyone out there tell me how to find out
more about Morgans enlistment,.army records etc so that I can find out
if they list his parents or next of kin etc?
TIA
Pat Grant, in Michigan
