Subject: [NF-ROOTS] cox's cove--white or blake--possibly brake
Date: Wed, 1 Jan 2003 15:52:32 -0500
There was an interesting letter to the Downhomer magazine this month. I am very curious if anyone may know who the person in question is. Following is the letter written:
I attended Prince of Wales for teacher's training in the summer of 1951 and my first assignment was Cox's Cove Bay of Islands from 1951 to 52. Transportation was very poor then and I usually had to catch the herring boat to Meadows or Summerside. On returning from Easter break in 1952, I found myself at Summerside late in the evening and it was very cold with wet snow. I was determined to re-open the school the next morning and so decided to walk, arriving at Cox's Cove late that night. *I am anxious to know the whereabouts of the school kid that walked with me that night, his last name I believe is either Blake or White.
My next assignment was in Deer Lake from 1952 to 53.
The gentleman's name in the story is Austin Cooper.
His address is 630 College Ave. Winnepeg, Manitoba, R2W 1N2
I'd be very happy to write him if someone could give me this person's name.
