Here is some additional information.

==============================

James White and his sons built two schooners named Myrtle and The Emblem of
Hope. They were built at Ragged Point, Twillingate South Island and they
named the area where they built the Schooners "Dock". The name still stands
today. The Emblem of Hope was registered in 1908. What happened to the
Myrtle is uncertain.

Four or five of his sons became skippers of their schooners and sailed to
Labrador to fish. On one occasion, they sailed as far as Cape Chidley which
is the most Northly cape before turning into Ungava Bay.

James White also owned a 29 ton Schooner called the Peninsula. Her
dimensions were 53 x 16 x ?. She was built in 1882 in Ragged Point,
Twillingate.
The registery entry states: Registered 1882, S882084, official # 084838,
closed 1931 - Broken Up - Twillingate.
Owner: James White Sr., Farmer/Planter of Twillingate.

HI All:

Does anyone know the places/communities where fisherpersons from the
Island of Newfoundand travelled to fish on the Labrador say about 1900?
