Valerie. Seems perfectly legal to remove something from your own property. I was told that it was illegal to remove any historical significant artifact from the Heart's Content Harbor even bottles and table ware. A skin diver from there told me he had tried to get permission to take pieces of cable to sell as fundraising souvenirs for the musuem and was turned down by some authority. I'll bet there are a lot of interesting things down there from the days of the cable ships.
