Hello all,

To our US of A friends I want to pose a question.

Have you ever heard of the surname GISMAR; GISHMER or any spelling remotely similar?

Family history suggests that a very elusive aunt... Clara GARLAND.... from Lower Island Cove, Newfoundland married a person by that name most likely in New York. Since I can only offer the phonetic version, the actual spelling could be quite way off.

It is a shot in the dark. Any suggestions as to what the correct spelling may be would be most appreciated.
