DEATHS


ANDERSON, Eva Beatrice 1922-2004 Passed away at
the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Friday, April 30, Eva B.
Anderson at the age of 81 years. Born in Bay d'Espoir, NL, she was the
daughter of the late James and Mary (Cribb) Buffet. She leaves to mourn
with fond memories, her husband, John, of 59 years marriage; and five
children, Sylvia (Albert) Osmond, Jim (Diane) Anderson, Linda (Don)
Eustace of Port aux Basques, Jane (Gord) Lawrence of Gander, NL and
Diane Froude of Vancouver, BC; 20 grandchildren and 26
great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Cherry Buffet of Bay d'Espoir, NL;
brothers-in-law, Arthur (Elsie) Anderson, Bert (Mary) Anderson, and
Gerald (Kay) Anderson of Port aux Basques; sisters-in-law, Ethyl Young
of Stephenville, NL, Eileen Anderson of Port aux Basques and Lillian
(Clyde) Cribb of Alberta. She was predeceased by her
great-granddaughter, Amber Osmond; brother, James Buffet; mother and
father-in-law, Jane and Howard Anderson; brothers-in-law, Hewitt,
Charles, Lewellyn Anderson and Matthew Young; sister-in-law, Irene
Anderson; son-in-law, Carl Froude. Visitation took place on Saturday
and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral
services took place at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2004 at St. James'
Anglican Church, Port aux Basques, officiated by Rev. Hugh Fudge.
Interment followed at the St. James' Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill,
Trans Canada Highway, Port aux Basques. Funeral arrangements in the
care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300. (Date

FARRELL, Gerald C. Farrell Age 76 Is with
great sadness that the family of the late Gerald C. Farrell announce his
passing at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Thursday, May 6, 2004,
age 76 years. He leaves to mourn his children: sons, Christopher
(Jennifer), Randy (Juanita) and Ronnie (Faith); daughters, Ellie
Edmunds, Sharon Caines and Carol Rodman; brothers, Henry, Isle aux
Morts, and Tom (Maude) Rose Blanche as well as a large number of
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. He was
predeceased by his wife, Alice (Feb. 20, 2004). Funeral service was
held on Saturday, May 8 at 2 p.m. from Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Isle
aux Morts with Rev. Hubert Vallis officiating. Interment followed at
Hillside Haven Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to

SAVERY, Elise Gladys Age 85 years It is with great
sadness that the family of the late Elsie Savery announce her passing at
her residence on Wednesday, May 12, 2003 in her 85th year. She leaves
to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Ada (Russell
Caines), Prince Edward Island, Bill (Gayle), Ottawa, Rose Martin,
Alyesford, Julia Briffett, Kingston, Danny (Dee), Port Williams, Ben
(Lorna), Port aux Basques, Bob (Karen), Ottawa, Marlene (Harry Pardy),
Searston, Sandra (Mike Moss), Port aux Basques, Lloyd (Peggy), Angus,
Michelle (Rick), Burlington, 25 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren;
sister, Evelyn (George Leamon), Burnt Islands, and Aunt Julia
Strickland, Port aux Basques, as well as a large circle of relatives and
friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas; and son,
Clifford. Visitation took place from Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux
Basques Thursday, 7-9 p.m., Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service
was held on Saturday, May 15, 2004, at 2 p.m. from St. James' Anglican

SPENCER, Annie Mary (Formerly of Scotland) It is
with great sadness that the family of the late Annie Mary Spencer
(Hutcheson) formerly from Kinquessie, Invernesshire, Scotland (Librarian
of 18 years) announce her passing on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at Dr.
Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in her 94 year. She leaves to mourn
with fond and precious memories her only daughter, with whom she resided
until 1990 before moving to the long term care unit; Christine Buffett
(Jim) of Port aux Basques; granddaughters, Heather Porter (Jim), Danette
Kelly (John), Tracey Squarey (Danny); great-grandchildren, Angela,
Samantha, Kyla, Kelsey and Matthew; sister-in-law, Myrtle Spencer of
Harbour Breton; nieces, Norma Valle (Angus) of Harbour Breton and Gertie
Kane (Chesley) of Port aux Basques, as well as a large circle of
relatives and friends from Harbour Breton and Port aux Basques. She is
predeceased by her husband, Nathan James Spencer of Harbour Breton;
mother, Christine Hutcheson of Kinquessie, Scotland; and her lifelong
friends, Frank and Lizzie Anderson. Visitation took place from
Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques Tuesday, 7-9 p.m. and
Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services was held on Friday, May 14,
2004 at 2 p.m. from St. James' Anglican Church with Rev. Hugh Fudge
officiating. Interment followed at St. James' Anglican Cemetery.

HARDY, William 1921-2004 Passed away peacefully at
the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Friday, May 7, 2004, William
R. Hardy of Port aux Basques at the age of 82 years. Born in Cape La
Hune, he was the son of the late John and Charlotte Hardy. He leaves to
mourn with fond memories, his loving wife, Melita, of 60 years marriage;
and three children, Edna Hiscock of Corner Brook, NL, Arthur (Dallas),
and Robert (Elizabeth) of Port aux Basques; eight grandchildren, Andrea
Lewell, Dartmouth, Connie Dolomount, Corner Brook, Wendy Archambault,
Alberta, Christopher Hardy, Michelle (Harry) Hardy, Paul Hardy of Port
aux Basques, Jason (Robbie) Fraser, Ontario, Joy Bragg of British
Columbia; and eight great-grandchildren, Tara, James and Melanie Lewell,
Andrew and Matthew Dolomount, Harry Osmond, Kaitlyn and Becky Bragg;
sister, Clara Dominie of Morrisville, Bay d'Espoir, NL, and a large
circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was predeceased by
his son-in-law, Conrad Hiscock; sisters, Maude, Martha, Gladys, Mary and
Ester; and brothers, John, Jim, Edward and Wilson. Visitation took
place on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at
East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place at 2 p.m. on
Monday, May 10, 2004 at St. James' Anglican Church, Channel, officiated
by Rev. Hugh Fudge. Interment followed at St. James' Anglican Cemetery,

LERICHE, Alice M. (1919-2004) Passed away
peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Thursday, April
29, Alice Matilda LeRiche of Port aux Basques at the age of 84 years.
Born in Port aux Basques, she was the daughter of the late George and
Dorcas LeRiche. She leaves to mourn with fond memories her three
sisters, Dora (Eric) Mullins, Daisey Hann of Port aux Basques, Dulcie
Hoskins of Halifax, Nova Scotia; one brother, Clifford (Bernice) LeRiche
of Saint John, New Brunswick; special friends, Donna and Lilly
Blackmore, and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. She was
predeceased by her brothers, Albert and Israel LeRiche; sister,
Florence; sister-in-law, Gertie LeRiche; brothers-in-law, Frank Hoskins
and Doug Hann. Visitation took place on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and
Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral
services took place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at St. James'
Anglican Church, Channel, officiated by Rev. Hugh Fudge. Interment
followed at St. James' Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Funeral
