MATTHEWS, Annie Hollett
MATTHEWS, Annie Hollett - 87, Halifax, passed away peacefully, October 31,
2004. Born July 14, 1917, formerly of Grand Bank, NL, she was a daughter of
the late George and Seline Grandy. She was predeceased by her husband of 36
years, Eugene Matthews. Left with cherished memories are daughters, Jean
(Jim) MacKenzie, Bedford; Norma (Wayne) Bishop, Halifax; Lois (Danny)
McPhee, Halifax; son, Wayne (Dorothy) Matthews, Hubbards; brother, Jim
Grandy and their families. She is also survived by her beloved
grandchildren, Derek, Denise, Krista, Jennifer, Scott, Dana, Jerit, Corey,
Ashley, and Laura; great-grandchildren, Katie, Brandon, and Grant. Besides
her husband, she was predeceased by siblings, Sim Grandy, Harriet Hickman,
Emily Grandy. Annie was a very active member of Fairview United Church,
leading the junior choir as well as former member of the ladies auxiliary.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552
Bayers Rd., Halifax, where visitation will be on Tuesday, November 2, from
2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service Wednesday, November 3, at 2 p.m. in
Fairview United Church, Dutch Village Road, Rev. Heather Hemming
officiating. Burial in St. John's Cemetery. Reception to follow in Fairview
United Church. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice
