Hello
I am researching mainly the Riggs surname in Newfoundland and have run into
a problem with the ADDY and ADEY surname.
Anyone out there know how "popular" the addy/adey surname is in
Newfoundland in 1790's up until about 1860's. None of the name books for
Newfoundland had much to say, and I believe Adey, wasnt even listed as a
spelling variation of Addy ... or vice versa.
Anyways, Here is what I have .... just a quick run down; as I seem to be
not getting many to any replies using these mesage boards any more ...lol.
Anyways, my interest is in two girls (possibly sisters or cousins, equally
posible there is no relation).
1. Elizabeth Adey, d/o William and Hannah, (b) October 27, 1829, married to
Thomas Riggs in 1849, died August 29, 1880. All in Bay de Verde, Nfld. I
have some sisters/brothers for her and her fathers family as well. There
are also a few others that fit into this family, but not verified yet.
2. Sarah Addy married William Riggs on November 28, 1842, both of Bay de
Verde. She was born in the early 1820's, to unknown parents. I have no
other information on her.
The two Riggs mentioned are brothers, who were born in BDV and lived there
.... The biggest problem is lack of information on Sarah Addy.
Any help, ideas, theories, any Addy and Adey experts out there.
Thanks - Laura
