The ADEY / ADDY / ADYE surname is connected to the BUCHAN /
BEECHAM/ BUCHAM / BUCHANAN surname of NL through Capt. David who
married Miss Maria ADYE. The begat at least two sons. Their
grandaughter, Miss Eva BUUCHAN of 17 Kidbrooke Park Road,
BLACKHEATH, S. E. London, discussed her grandfather with NL author
HOWLEY in the early 1900's.
I am a collector of information on Capt. David BUCHAN and his
EXPLOITS in Newfoundland.
Cheers, Lloyd
p.s. some my maternal ancestors in NL were recorded as BUCHAM,
BEECHAM and BEAUCHAMP

Hi Lauralynn
Re the Sarah Addy that was in confirmed June 1841, age 16
(therefore born
1825) at BDV, I was proposing that she was likely your Sarah Addy.
Does
that fit with your information?
The Christianna Adey that I was referencing was the wife of
Stephen
Emberley Jr, as you noted. She was also known as Christian. From
her death
I know she was born about 1786, possibly the daughter of Stephen
and Sarah.
There was also a Martin Eddy/Eady shown in Trinity Church Register
circa
1757-1759. Further, the William Warn ledger for Old Perlican shows
Marten
Adey purchasing supplies in 1759.
Do you have any further information on the very early Adeys,
especially
where they may have orginated, or any other stories.
Geoff
