SLADE, FREDERICK HARVEY St. Anthony
Passed peacefully away early Saturday morning, Sept 24,
2005 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, Frederick
Harvey Slade, after a short battle with cancer. He leaves to
mourn his wife Maisie; daughters Donna (Robert) and Judy;
sons Terry (Sandy) and Lorne (Carol Ann); grandchildren
Alison (Dana), Heather, Tara and Jason; great-grandson
Ethan; sisters Ruby, Anita, Pam ( John) and Diane (Ray), as
well as a large circle of friends. He will be lovingly
remembered and sadly missed. Visitation took place at the
funeral home on West Street, St. Anthony. The funeral
service was held at 2:30 p.m. at the United Church in St.
Anthony with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. Interment
followed in the church cemetery. Flowers were graciously
accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s
choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre
Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral
director.


PENNEY, HAZEL (PARR)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hazel Penney
announce her passing on Sept. 22, 2005 at John M. Gray
Centre at the age of 81 years. “ Aunt Hazel” as everyone knew
her, was predeceased by her husband Roy, children Peggy and
Martin, son-in-law William and parents George and Jessie Parr.
Leaving to mourn are her children Ivy ( George) , Jean
(Norman), Lydia (Robert), Nita (William’s wife), Lloyd
(Donna), Wilfred (Marlene), Miriam (Melvin), Oliver (Leah),
John (Denise), Nigel (Peggy’s husband), Ada (Sandy), Clayton
(Gaye) and Sandy (Martin’s wife); 39 grandchildren and 23
great-grandchildren. The funeral service took place at the
Pentecostal Church in Port Hope Simpson on Sunday, Sept. 25
at 2 p.m. with Pastor Claude Kippenhuck officiating, assisted by
Pastor Junior Flight and Mrs. Kippenhuck. Interment followed
in the church cemetery. Expressions of sympathy and flowers
were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted
to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred
Hutchings, funeral director.



HYNES, EDWARD FRANCIS St. Anthony
Passed away on Sept. 23, 2005 at Curtis Memorial Hospital
Edward Francis Hynes of St. Anthony in his 74th year. Leaving
with a lifetime of memories his children Peggy Twyne (Ron),
Joan Hillier (Boyd Wicks), Terry Hynes (Delores), Donna
Simms (Greg), Lee Biles (Roger), Eddie Hynes (Erdie), Kevin
Hynes and Wayne Hynes (Bonnie); grandchildren Michael
Hillier, Derick Hillier, Robyn Young, Jessica Buckle, Philip
Nichols, Adam Simms, Christopher Twyne, Stephanie Fillier,
Hazel Biles, Paul Biles, Sabrina Hynes, Samantha Hynes,
Annalee Hynes and Emily Hynes; great-grandchildren Tiara and
Michaela Hillier; sisters Martha Corp and Joanne Perkins;
brother-in-law George Andrews; son-in-law Graham Hillier
(Zonya), as well as a large circle of other family and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Hazel in 1981. Visitation took
place at the funeral home on West Street, St. Anthony. The
funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 26 at St.
Mary’s Anglican Church, St. Anthony with Rev. Jean Brenton-
Hickman officiating. Interment followed at the Old Salvation
Army Cemetery. Flowers were graciously accepted or
donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral
arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St.
Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.



ADAMS, NINA Roddickton
Passed peacefully away on Sunday, Sept 25, 2005 in the
presence of her loving family at White Bay Central Health
Centre, Nina Adams, age 87 years. She was predeceased by
her husband Walter Adams in 1977. Left with fond and loving
memories her daughter Annie May Gillard; sons Fred (Viva),
Raymond ( Blanche), George, Harvey, Leslie ( Juna),
Amenious, Thomas (Jenny) and Kenneth; 25 grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; sister Annie; brothers Wilfred
(Pearl), Willie (Beatrice), Harvey (Violet), as well as many
other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on
Wednesday, Sept. 28 at the Pentecostal Church in Roddickton
with interment at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Funeral
arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillate Funeral Home, St.
Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.



PARRILL, NORMAN St. Anthony
Passed peacefully away on Monday, Sept. 26, 2005 at Curtis
Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, Norman Parrill, age 91
years. He was predeceased by his parents Rosannah and George
Henry; brothers Roland and George; sisters Rita and Mamie and
special son-in-law Robert Taylor. Leaving to mourn his
loving wife of 64 years Flossie; daughters Ena (Jim), Dorothy,
Mary Ellen (Randy) and Jackie (Hayward); sons Elijah (Elsie)
and Roy (Rachel); 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;
sisters Josie (Gordon), Amy (Pearce), Goldie (Aubrey) and
May (Grant); brother Andrew (Nora), and a large circle of
other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at the funeral
home on West Street. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on
Wednesday, Sept 28 at the United Church in St. Anthony.

Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.



HANCOCK, STEWART Forteau
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stewart
Hancock announce his passing at Labrador South Health
Centre long term care unit on Sept. 27, 2005, at the age of 79
years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories wife Grace;
children Dorothy (Bert), Christine (Hollis), Alice (Kevin),
Clarissa (Les) and Rick (Michelle); grandchildren Curtis,
Josclin, Trent, Janice, Donna, Christopher, Scott, Stacy,
Tracey, Shelly, Matthew and Emily; great-grandchildren
Tristan, Jackson, Daniel, Cassandra, Joshua, Jonah,
Jayden, Domonic, Jeffery and Tanisha, as well as a large
circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents
Frederick and Hilda Hancock. Visitation took place at the
United Church in Forteau on Tuesday and Wednesday from
where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept.
29 with Dr. Robert Thompson officiating. Interment followed
in the United Church Cemetery in Forteau. As expressions of
sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted and donations may
be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation. Funeral
arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, L’Anse
au Loup.
