Cape Breton Deaths April 05, 2006 Wednesday
Melida Evans 77, NORTH SYDNEY Liz and her brothers sadly announce the
passing of our dear mother, Melida Evans, a resident of Peppett Street,
North Sydney, on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Burgeo, N.L., she was the daughter of the late George and Catherine
Green. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, and a
member of the Married Couples Association for a number of years. She was a
member of the North Sydney Senior Citizens and Pensioners Club. In
healthier years she loved to play bingo, darts, cards and bowling. She was
a former member of the LOBA and the LTBA. She is survived by her daughter,
Liz, at home; her three sons, Martin (Norma),
Clarence, both of Sydney, Levi (Jackie), Georges River; three grandsons,
Jamie, Levi Jr. and Jimmy Evans; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Lexie
and Jaycee; one brother, Austin (Frances) Green, Burgeo, N.L. She will be
sadly missed by her close friends, Veronica and Holly Fraser and Selena
Harris. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Evans, grandson, David,
two sisters, Myrtle and Mable, five brothers, Clayton, Ken, George, Archie
and Martin. Visitation for Melida will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
Funeral service Friday at 3 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Anglican Church
with Archdeacon Reg MacDonald officiating. Burial to follow in Lakeside
Cemetery, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Online condolences may be sent to
