Well, here I am, picking the brains of the list members again. My inquiry
about the 1904 Sharemen's Ledger of James Ryan & Co. of King's Cove, BB is
not quite finished. It occurred to me that my grandmother, Virtue Perry,
who was listed as a "shareman" in 1904 was only 16 years old. Then an old
family story about her working as a cook on the sealing vessels came to
mind. Does anyone know if there were sealing vessels that left from King's
Cove in those days? I know that there were many sealers from the north side
of Bonavista Bay in that period. It seems to me that maybe I have stumbled
upon an important piece of my family history.
