Listers,

According to The Marston Genealogy and to Vital Statistics of N.
Hampton, my GG Grandfather, Simon MARSTON married a Charlotte DALTON on
31 March 1811 in North Hampton. She was buried there on 17 Dec 1867, age
75, according to the Vital Statistics, and age 76, according to TMG, pg.
289. Simon was a farmer in Portsmouth, but he also died in Dec. 1867 and
was buried in North Hampton.

After several years of trying, I have been unable to identify
Charlotte's parents. The name Charlotte does not appear, apparently, in
any of the known sources for the DALTONs of New England.

Today, I tried a different approach. Simon and Charlotte were married
and buried in North Hampton. Marriages traditionally happen in the
bride's home town, so, I ask, was Charlotte born there? Is it possible
that she is called Elizabeth on her birth record and that she was the
daughter of Michael? An Elizabeth DALTON, daughter of Michael, was born
in North Hampton in June 1791 according to church records there. She is
the only DALTON born in No. Hampton for the years 1788-1792.

Do any of your DALTON, or No. Hampton, or Portsmouth records tell us
what happened to the Elizabeth DALTON born in North Hampton in 1791?
Again according to the N. Hampton V.S., the only Elizabeth DALTON to
have married there did so in 1786 to a Benjamin JOHNSON of Epping. Also
of no help is the further fact that neither of Simon's 2 daughters is
named either Charlotte or Elizabeth. HELP!!
