John Greenleaf Whittier spent his summers in my area of NH. He wrote Among
the Hills (1868), which referred to the Ames Tavern in West Ossipee as the
Wayside, which at this time had a landlord named Hanry Banks. (This
information from "The Tamworth Narrative". Snow Bound was another. Can't
think of any others at this time.
