Bill.....This probably isn't the information you want, it's only to show the
variations of the name that I've come across in my limited search for the
husband of Elizabeth, and maybe a couple of locations that may have

Spells his name as Mattis..(.from Amesbury Second Church Records)

"Found query in "The Essex Genealogist, May 1993" asking if the Elizabeth
Matthews b. ca 1728 was the dau of John & Elizabeth (Trussell) Matthews m.
Amesbury, MA. 26 Jan 1726/27." Mattes = Matthews?"
