Hi, Listers:
Thank you all for trying to help me on this puzzle of who Elizabeth was.
I have since found that this has been a question for at least 101
years. In the April 1898 issue of the NEHGR, a Miss A. Hayes apparently
let an adv. essentially asking the very same question I did. One can
only guess if she got her answer... in any event, the adv. did not run
again.
What I know of Ezekial, aside from what exists in Stackpole and in Noyes
et all, is via NEHGR entries. For instance, his son was born 1st day,
12th mo, 1640 O.S. date and died in Boston 29th day, 7th mo, 1641 O.S.
date; and his mother Elizabeth was buried there on the 28th day, 2nd mo,
1642 O.S. date. Inasmuch as there is no Boston record of Ezekial's
marriage, the likelihood is that he was married elsewhere and he and his
wife possibly emigrated to Boston in the timeframe mentioned above.
Now, I know two things not recorded by the authors cited above: the son
Ezekial was not born in Braintree; and the daughter Elizabeth, who
married a Wentworth, must have been born before her mother's death in
1642/43, if indeed the Elizabeth () was her mother.
If anyone has access to Braintree records, I'd appreciate their checking
out my assumptions (a negative appearance of info at that time would
kind of solidify my thinking.)
My best,
'Gene Hubbard
