Whoa. looks like you have a connection. But, the passage you cite was
quoted from someone elses message (was it yours?). I quoted them in a
response asking the same basic questions. My Nicholsons were in Buncombe
Co. c. 1814. James Nicholson entered service there that year (war of 1812)
and was in DeKalb co. Ala. in 1850. he has at least 2 unnamed sons (and 2
unnamed daughters) one of which is likely William, since he had a brother by
that name and the name is used by his children to name theirs.

By the way, there was a second clan of Nicholsons in DeKalb at that time.
William and Lemuel Nicholson, sons of Wm (1765-1820 Pendleton S.C.) and
Martha Richardson Nicholson. William and Lemuel Nicholson had a brother and
sister that moved to Mississippi. Perhaps there is a connection. I suspect
they are also related to mine, for many reasons.

Another group of Nicholsons were found in central Alabama at that time and a
descendent informed me they were newly arrived from Europe via a gulf
seaport.
