in NZ we have indexes of births, marriages and deaths, and they are freely
available at many libraries. With electoral rolls and directories it is
possible to locate most of what we want, and we can order the certificates
for $9 per photocopy.. which is perfect for genealogists..
We DO NOT have any census, because they are destroyed, but with school
records it is possible to trace down many families.
Church records are similar to those in the States, and the National Archives
allow one grade 1 free search per year.
I agree that the Irish are making untold money from genealogists.
