Hi everyone
Some information from the Brownlow Lease Book (1667-1711) for the name O'NEILL for Di Randall
and others researching O'NEILL in Armagh. It should be noted that Armagh was the home of the O'NEILLS of the Fews, prior to the English plantation of Ulster. The BROWNLOW lands were in
the Barony of O'Neilland.
NOTE: The JONES' were relatives of the BROWNLOWS, Roth JONES was the nephew of Arthur
BROWNLOW. Elinor JONES was Arthur's sister; William JONES was her husband and Brownlow
JONES was her son.
DERRINENARRAGH - Three fifth parts of the said Sessiagh of Derrinenarragh, (part of Ballinerry)
in consideration of two poundes fine except woods and roialties and perch etc. as aforesaid,
leased to Hen(ry) O'MERRY, Ever O'NEILLE, Patr(ick) KETTLE junior for 21 yeares from Alsaints
1673 at three pounds four shillings rent per annum de claro, like duties from every house, suite to
courts mills, distress nomine poenae and re entrie, linnen act, ditch and quicksett 12 perches
yearely - rest condicions ut supra - dated 26 August 1672. Witness: W(illia)m JONES,
Brownlow JONES, Roth JONES, Jo(hn) HENY.
Three pounds and four shillings, three shillings duties per house.
KILLAGHY - On a lease of land to Richard HAMON dated 8th October 1669 one of the witnesses
to the signing of the lease is Hugh O'NEILL.
SHELTON'S TENEMENT LURGAN - On a lease of this tenement to W(illia)m COPELAND,
W(illia)m BLACKER and W(illia)m DRAPER dated 13th October 1669 one of the witnesses
to the signing of the lease is Hugh O'NEILLE.
On the will of Arthur BROWNLOW dated September 29th 1710 one of the witnesses is H.O'NEILL.
