McMaster, Andw.

Hello Eileen,
This is interesting isn't it.
I did a Google search and didn't find Tyagherty, but looking at a list of
Townlands of Clonfeacle I came up with Tireagerty. This Townland appears to be
close to Blackwatertown village/town as it exists today, which I believe has
absorbed the old village of Clonfeacle. (and I assume the townlands of
Blackwatertown and Tireagerty are next to each other).
On John McMaster's army Attestation papers he gives his place of origin as
"in or near the town of Clonfeacle". So there is a very strong chance that the
above Andrew McMaster could be the father of John the soldier.
I also note a John McMaster in Blackwatertown Townland on the 1833 List, and
a John McMasters on the Flax Growers List of 1796 - relatives possibly. John
and Andrew are names used in each successive generation of my line of
McMasters .... my father was Andrew McMaster (1920-1997). I am adopted (and never
met my real father), but my half brother is another Andrew.
Thanks for the information.
Mike
