The oldest female (born c1839/40) was named Mary. It is interesting that Eliza, James's wife, whose father was named Michael, did not name a son after him. So I don't know if Mary is a Hughes name or a Cashin name. Could you give names and dates of the other children's birth/Baptisms?
Also, have you found Mary's Baptismal record? I was wondering what parish she was baptized in. Jan
