#1---
I am searching for any Capt. John Furman of Letterkenny, Joseph McNutt
near Castledoe, and James McNutt in Faun. In May 1761 these men with
several others, were were agents for Alexander McNutt. Alex, the
entrepreneur, advertized for settlers to emigrate to Nova Scotia and
New Brunswick and receive land grants.
My 3rd great grandfather Samuel McNutt was born in Derry, in 1802
emigrated in 1824-25, to New Brunswick and received a land grant in York
County in 1830.
While there is a 40+ year span of time, I believe there might be family
connections to one of these men and Samuel.
I don't know anything about Samuel's parents, but he named his first son
William. Other sons were named Thomas and Samuel, and his daughters were
named Jane ( after her mother) Elizabeth, Mary, Anne.
I have Samuel and Jane's (nee Tomilson) decendancy rather complete, and
now I need to make the leap across the Atlantic
#2----
" Mary Coll, married a James McNutt of the
Waterside area of Derry towards the end of the last century"
I received the above information by e-mail. Can anyone point me in a
direction to research this couple? Or do you have any information
on
the Mc Nutt surname in the Derry, Donegal areas?
Thanks
Marita
Any suggestions or help will be very helpful.
