Thanks for the correction-I should have checked my source, not my memory. : )
I think I saw this in the OS Memoirs and was surprised that the man of that
marriage changed his name. I wonder how frequent that was.

Hi:

Actually - it was the other way around. My Marcus McCausland's mother,
Elizabeth Gage, inherited from Hodson Gage and subsequently changed his
surname to Gage about 1800. >>
