The site gets busy and slow sometimes. You don't mention any dates
but these are the hits that came up. For anyone else searching for
military files and having difficulty with the PRO catalogue site
http://catalogue.pro.gov.uk
try restricting the search by years eg 1700-1800 or to category WO or
ADM. The former is War Office and gives army records and ADM is
Admiralty which will give Navy records.
Even so, there are still records in PRO that are not apparently on
PROCAT, the computer index and I know from my own researches there are
records that have not even been indexed.

You ran a basic search on "John Fitzgibbon" restricted to
reference(s): WO, ADM.
