Greetings Betsy and Ian:

I thought I would reply to the List instead of to each of you separately in
order to keep this thread going a bit further.

First, many thanks to you, Ian, for the information. Great to hear from you.

Betsy: What is the full name of your Mowbray? I am always curious when a
Mowbray shows up who was a merchant. All my GGg's family, and later my GGg,
were merchants of one sort or another both in NIR and later in New York
City. My GGg, Thomas Howard Mowbray, was associated with Thurber, Wyland &
Co. in NYC.

I would love to find a surviving relative in NIR. There is a possibility for
this. My GGg emigrated to the USA with his older brother, sisters and mother
in 1846. The father did not emigrate. I know very little about the father,
but there is a possibility that part of the family remained in NIR.
Everything I do know is on my page in our family website (See "The Mowbrays
of Cumber.").

Tom
