I wrote to the Genealogy Centre (Heritage Library, 14 Bishop Street, Derry,
Northern Ireland, BT 48 6PW). I found their information online at their
website: http://www.irishroots.net/derry.htm.

If you go to the website there is a list of their resources and a form you
can fill out. I knew VERY little information but the surname of Lattimore
was uncommon enough that I felt it would be easy to find something. I also
sent a research fee of $50......every penny was worth it!!

They did not find my ancestor directly, however they sent me a two page
letter of their research with information, a map of the county of
Londonderry, a map of the civil parishes, and a copy of the 1831 census from
the Parish of Desertmartin including the Townland of Cranny and Lecumpher
(the partial 1831 census with the surname of Lattimore), and then a list of
their computerized church registers.

Once I saw the 1831 census I began to do more research on my own, not
knowing which of the two towns my ancestor was from! I was able to contact
the Lecumpher Presbyterian Church online and asked about their
records...........they responded to me within days and I had found the
records for MY ancestors.......so I knew where they lived prior to coming to
the USA!!!

I was very pleased with the results of the Genealogy Centre! I have been
very reluctant to pay for research, because I like to do it myself. In this
case it was a very good investment.

I wish you luck with your search!

The Best,
Rachel Lattimore Hasenyager
